I'm finally nearing the end and just one more pasta and lentil sauce meal to get through. As nice as it was on day one, by day five it's lost a little of it's appeal. That's not to say I wouldn't have it again...just not for a few weeks (maybe months...)!
Well, has it been worth it?
Yes...it definately has.
As I said back at the start the easy part was definately saying yes.
I decided I wanted to take a small step out of my comfort zone for a week to understand and appreciate a bit more just how lucky I am and gain some small empathy with those living in poverty.
I wanted to be able to share with others the need to really appreciate the value of our food – if we are lucky enough to be able to afford good food then let’s make sure we don’t waste it! After all we are still wasting around 20% of all the food we buy in the UK!
And I really think I've achieved that and hopefully a little bit more. Many people have said they're now considering doing it for themselves in May - it's a real eye opener and definately worth it....try it in family groups or work teams if you want to make it that little bit easier (bigger budget, not so many people around you eating doughnuts!).
Enlighenting the world, one helpful article at a time.
