Today I came across something I wanted to share with you - a wonderful initiative to help spread skills and knowledge about everything from cooking new foods to making a corset! Obviously I'm going to concentrate on the food skills here!
It's an online place for retired and retiring people to pass on their skills through real life tours, talks, classes and courses. There are now over 120 workshops on offer for people to get involved. Although just in London at the moment there are plans to roll out The Amazings from its London base, nationwide in 2013.
The way it works is simple: The Amazings suggest skills they would like to pass on, the online community votes for the ones they would like to learn, and the most popular suggestions are turned into classes and courses for people to book and attend.
The Amazings are currently promoting Richard's Indian cooking "My mum's way" course, which will demystify Indian cooking and provide you with the confidence to wow your friends with authentic recipes and spicy secrets, that have been passed down to Richard, the only way they should be, by spending time in his mum's kitchen.. Kitchen and food skills are so important to help us make the most of the food we buy so just wanted to share that snippet with you today!
